Seventh Day Adventist Sabbath & Health

1a The doctrine

1b The Sabbath was given to all Saints of all times (OT & NT) and was practiced by the Church until 321 AD when a Pope changed it to Sunday in the Laws of Constantine

2b Worship on Sunday displeases God and is a tool of Satan to side track believers and to keep the unbelieving from salvation

1c The believer who knows to worship on Sabbath and does not will disqualify himself from heaven

2c The Antichrist or the beast will legalize Sunday worship in the future

3c Those who worship on Sunday will have the Mark of the Beast and those who worship on Saturday the Mark of God

4c The Lord will eventually restore the Sabbath and it shall be kept throughout eternity

2a The response

1b The principle of the Sabbath is given to all generations (Gen. 2:3)

1c The keeping of a particular day was given to a specific people – Israel (Ex. 31:17)

2c The keeping of the Sabbath as given in the OT is not given for the church age

1d There is no command to keep days in the NT (Col. 2:16-17; Rom. 14:4-6; Gal. 4:8-11)

2d The NT Saints worshipped on Sunday (Acts 20:7; 1 Cor. 16:2)

2b The Sabbath as given in OT is not being practiced by the SDA

1c No work – hospitals, TV stations, etc. (Ex. 20:8)

2c Kindle no fire (Ex. 35:8)

3c Very limited travel – only about 3000 feet (Acts 1:12)

4c Cause anyone else to work (Ex. 20:10)

5c Penalty for breaking – death (Num. 15:32-36)

6c Kept from Friday Evening to Saturday Evening

1a Statement of the Doctrine: God has given a particular diet to man which all should follow, particularly Christians

1b What one eats will not get one to heaven, however what one eats can keep him from arriving in heaven

1c Eating the wrong foods will impair one’s judgment

2c With an impaired judgment, one will sin and loose his salvation

2b The following diet is given to man

1c God originally created man to eat fruit, grains, and nuts and later vegetables (Gen. 1:29; 2:16; 3:18)

2c God gave permission to eat meat after the flood (Gen. 9:3-4) but it must be a clean animal (Gen. 9:3-4; Lev. 11:13-47; Deut. 14:6, 9, 10)

1d Some of the animals to be avoided are: pigs, squirrels, rabbits, catfish, lamprey ell, lobsters, clams crabs, shrimp, oysters, and frogs

2d Anyone who eats these unclean things are doomed to hell (Isa. 66:15-17)

3c Other things that should be avoided: such as alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, coffee, coke, or any other thing that is addictive or a stimulate

4c Regular exercise and maintenance of the body are also greatly stressed

2a Evaluation of the Doctrine

1b A Person’s diet will not keep a person from heaven

1c Salvation is not based on human effort but on grace (Eph. 2:8-9)

2c A person’s diet is not a high priority to God as spiritual walk with God (Matt. 15:17-18; 1 Cor. 8:8; 1 Tim. 4:8)

2b The Scriptures teach otherwise about eating all things

1c God has given all animals for man’s consumption

1d Gen. 9:2-3, God gave all animals to Noah

2d 1 Tim. 4:4, all things are to be received with thanksgiving

3d Rom. 14:2-3, those who seek to be vegetarians should not condemn those who eat meat

4d Acts 15:19-21, the counsel in Jerusalem determined that the Gentile believers should only restrain from meat that was strangled or the blood was still in it

2c Those who restrict diets on religious grounds are to be watched (Col. 2:21-23; 1 Tim. 4:1-6; Heb.13:9)
