The Close of the Meditorial Kingdom

Part Twelve - The Close of the Meditorial Kingdom

A couple of weeks could be spent talking about the transitional period between the end of the Tribulation and the beginning of the Millennial Kingdom. Likewise, much more detail could be given concerning the changes Christ will make to restore the Kingdom to its original condition. Since this material is covered under “Prophecy”, articles “Transition Period” and “Restoration of the Land” we will move on to discuss the close of the Millennial Kingdom of Christ. To do this we must first cover a couple of facts about life in the Millennium.

1) Fact #1: The millennium will start with only believers. In John 3:3 our Lord made it clear that the prerequisite to entering the Kingdom is a spiritual rebirth. That spiritual rebirth comes only when a sinner admits he has sinned against God, been judged for his sin and sentenced to spend all of eternity in the Everlasting Lake of Fire. Likewise he must also accept that he is humanly incapable of changing his fate. His only hope is too put his trust in the saving work of another to get him to heaven. That other person is Jesus Christ. Christ has promised that everyone who puts their trust in Him and Him alone will not perish but immediately receive eternal life (John 3:16; 4:6).

To put in another way, at the beginning of the Kingdom and for a short period there after, all who dwell in the Kingdom will be the Saints of God. I say a short period of time for it will not be long after the Kingdom begins that babies will be born. Like any individual born into this world, they are not a Saint of God until they have put their faith in Christ.

2) Fact #2: Humanity will exist in the Millennium on two levels.

a. The immortal group of humanity. This group of Saints is made up of every believer from the time of Adam to the beginning of the Tribulation. Also included in this class are all those who come to Christ during the Tribulation and are martyred for their faith. All of these Saints combined will make up what is called the First Resurrection (John 5:25-30; 1 Cor. 15:20-23) and they will rule and reign with Christ forever.

Rev 20:4-6, “And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a* thousand years. But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.”

We call this class immortal because these Saints of God have been resurrected and along with those who are alive at the time of the Rapture of the Church (1 Thes. 4:13-18; 1 Cor. 15:51-52) they glorified into the image of Jesus Christ. Their plain of existence is elevated far higher than that of the present position of mortal man.

1 Cor 15:42-45, “So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.”

1 Cor 15:50-54, “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed — in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory."

1 John 3:2, “Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”

Because these Saints are now immortal and fully redeemed they will be qualified and thus assigned the job of ruling and reigning with Christ over His Millennial Kingdom. They will be rulers who are answerable to Christ Himself and it will be their task to carry out the work of His government over the remaining human population. In doing so they will fill the vacancies left by Satan and his fallen angels who presently rule in the affairs of man (Dan.10:13-14, 20-21; Eph. 6:12). These fallen angels only have access to mankind while Satan sits on the throne of man but when Satan is chained for a 1000 years (Rev. 20:1-3), his fallen angels are left powerless to interfere in the course of mankind. Mankind will finally know what it means to be free from the sway of Satan and his army.

b. The mortal class of humanity. This mortal group of humanity will be very small at the beginning of the Millennium. They are the surviving believers who come out of the Tribulation and the events of the Tribulation will not leave many survivors (Matt. 24:21-22). These individuals will not take the mark of the Antichrist because they claim allegiance with Christ. They will endure great persecution and attacks but in God’s sovereign program they will be spared from dying. However, before they are allowed to enter into the Kingdom, they will be first divided into two racial groups: Gentiles and Jews. (As a side note, the only racial groups that God recognizes are the Gentiles and Jews. Therefore all racial prejudice is contrary to God’s will).

The Gentiles will be gathered together to be judged by the Lord and He will separate out the real Christians from the fake Christians. The fake Christians will be sent to hell but the true Christians will be invited to enter into the Kingdom (Matt. 25:31-46). The Jews will also endure the same type of judgment in the “wilderness of the people” as God removes from their midst the “rebels” (Ezek. 20:33-38).

These Saints will not be given glorified bodies as those who have a part of the First Resurrection but will enter the Millennial in the mortal bodies. This does not mean there will be no changes to their bodies. Their bodies will need to be restored to the optimum condition for a mortal body. All effects of age, genetic defects, injuries, disease, etc. will all be removed and so they will be at their prime to enter the Kingdom in order to repopulate it. They will remain in this condition through out the whole of the 1000 years and will never taste of death.

Those who are born of these survivors will also not suffer the effects of age, illness, injury nor will they taste of death with the exception of one group of people. The only mortal individuals to die during the 1000 years will be those who openly rebel against the government of Christ. Thus the prophet writes that if someone is put to death for his rebellion at the age of a 100, people will view it in the same we view the death of an infant. Having so much to live for and yet deprived of it so early in life. This is the message of the prophet Isaiah.

Isa 65:20-23, “"No more shall an infant from there live but a few days, nor an old man who has not fulfilled his days; for the child shall die one hundred years old, but the sinner being one hundred years old shall be accursed. They shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. they shall not build and another inhabit; they shall not plant and another eat; for as the days of a tree, so shall be the days of My people, and my elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labor in vain, nor bring forth children for trouble; for they shall be the descendants of the blessed of the Lord, and their offspring with them.”

With prosperity and long life restored to mortal man and death a rarity, it will not take long for the few to blossom into billions who will inhabit all of the earth.

3) Fact #3: The millennium will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord (Isa. 11:9). There will be no question whether the Bible is true for the presence of Christ and His glorified Saints will provide all the evidence needed. Likewise, there will be no false religions for all will worship the Lord and Him only. There will be prayer and the Scriptures in the public educational system and the children will learn the ways of the Lord. Science will no longer teach the false theory of evolution and science will be used to teach about and glorify our Creator. There will be no war or even a whisper of a war as all will live in total peace. There will be no hunger, no natural disasters, no pollution, no hunger, no need or want for all will have more than an abundances of the riches of God.

With a thousand years of life at its very best with untold prosperity, long life, peace, perfect justice and great human progress it is difficult for us to understand the events of Rev. 20:7-10. First it is hard to understand why God would chain Satan up for 1000 years just to let him out for one more attempt at trying to defeat God. When Christ comes and defeats Satan at the end of the Tribulation, why does He not cast him at that time into the everlasting lake of fire? Why does Christ make it possible for Satan to have one more chance to deceive and mislead multitudes of people? Secondly, it is hard to understand how the mortal race of people born into the Millennium and immersed in the love and knowledge of God will be willing, when given the chance, to rebel against Christ and His government. There will be no other time in which people will have more opportunities to trust in Christ for salvation than at this time. Why do they turn their backs on the Lord?

The answer to all of this is not an easy one. Why release Satan for one more go around? I believe God does this to separate out the real Saints from the fake Saints. During the Millennium everyone will have to worship God and keep His law if they want to live and receive His blessings. But though someone may appear a devoted follower on the outside does not mean that he is on the inside. Too many “Christian” denominations have made this mistake by telling their followers that to be saved one must keep commandments, follow church rituals and traditions, be baptized, join the membership, give to the Lord and the list can go on and on. These are not what God is looking for. God is looking for those who are followers of Christ from the heart. He gets nothing from those who go through the motions but inwardly are in rebellion against Him. As Isaiah declares (64:6), all of our religious works are as “filthy rags” if they are not motivated out of a heart of love. We see this illustrated in the disciple Judas who on the outward appeared a true follower of Christ. Even when Christ announced that one of the 12 would betray him the disciples were clueless as to which one of them Christ was talking about. They never picked up that Judas was the one Jesus was referring to because he appeared like them.

On the other hand, why would the Lord continue the history of man another 1000 years if He knows many will still rebel against Him? I believe He does so to teach man an important lesson. Even in the millennium, where all the excuses that man uses today to reject Christ as savior are removed, many still will choose to spend eternity in hell then to spend eternity with Christ. People reject Christ today because of natural disasters (acts of God), poverty, other religions, wars, famines, disease, tragic events, a poor home life, and the list goes on and on. However, when all of these are removed in the Millennium and man still choices hell over Christ’s offer of eternal life, it is clear that all that man’s uses for rejecting Him are nothing but excuses. These excuses hide the real fact that man rejects God’s offer of salvation because He refuses to come to God on God’s terms. Man says if I can’t earn my way into heaven but must humble myself and accept Christ as my Savior, than I do not want heaven.

It is my conviction that the Millennium shows the fact that reason Satan, his angels, and unbelieving man will spend an eternity in the lake of fire is because that is their choice. I believe if some one could be pulled out of hell after suffering for 10,000 years and given the opportunity to trust in Christ as their Savior, they would still choose hell. They would love to receive eternal life and all that goes with it, however they would not take it if it means making Christ Savior and Lord of their lives. That is a hard concept for me to understand as a believer, but God makes it clear that a portion of His creation would rather go it on their own regardless of the consequences. If you are reading this today and have reasons (excuses) why you have never accepted Christ as your Savior, why not glen the lesson of these events. Our excuses for rejecting the wonderful offer of God are in reality our own stubborn rebellious pride saying, “no, I will save myself!” If you have not trusted in Christ, why not do so today!
